Quad Bike Hire All just wondering if anyone knows if it's illegal to ride in Greece
(specifically Kos) without having your actual riding license on them? I
& my partner hired a Dual everyday on my license but I don't really like
driving it. The man who we hired it from said its ok for him to drive as long
as he actually holds a license in the UK (which he does). However you aren't
convinced by this people!!After getting the bike for about 40 mins, We were
pulled over by the cops and fined €450 (!!!) for not having helmets worn
necessarily...therefore as the man don't offer us any we don't quite trust
him!! Laughing out loudly. Anyway, that's another reason; we would just like
clarification on the license situation please. As a tourist you have to have
your license with you when you are stopped in Greece...Quad Bike Hire and also when you hire a
car or a bike. We found out this summer....you have hired off the same people
for 20 years, but this summer my husband lost his license card somewhere on the
way, and even a scanned copy cat of the full green license was not sufficient,
and that's in a little town where the car hire people drink coffee with the
cops!!
We were Quad Bike Hire also told that our travel insurance also would be invalid if we
had an accident. And wear a helmet even though the locals quite often don't!
Once again, it would cause difficulty with your insurance people if you weren't
wearing one and you had an accident. I have been sold down the river by the
hire fortunately. Hope the rest of your holiday goes well.
If you have a tourist (rather than regular) cops office where you are staying
there (there is one in Kos Town)go in and let them know of your fine and the
fact that you were not offered helmets by Quad Bike Hire this company..they will help other
tourists in the future. Ilias Rent-A-Bike is situated on the Ayia Marina road,
just around the corner from Analypsi Sq. Ilias' 50cc motorbikes are just a few
